UN questions Syria nuke claims
From: http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/10/15/israel.syria.ap/index.html

Earlier there had been claims in the media that Syria had built a nuclear reactor. However, UN officials say they have received no evidence to support this claim. "We would obviously investigate any relevant information coming our way," said Melissa Fleming, spokeswoman for International Atomic Energy Agency. An Israeli airstrike over Syria targeted what appeared to be a nuclear reactor site. They claim it was years away from completion however.
Opinion:
I think it's kinda dumb the IAEA expects other countried to come forward with their nuclear weapons. Most Middle Eastern countried would try to keep it a secret if they did possess them. The article says they expect any country who knows or has evidence to support this claim should come forward. I think it might be more complex then this...everything in the Middle East is.

Crew wins deadly pirate battle off Somalia
From: http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/africa/10/30/somalia.pirates/index.html

Pirates off the coast of Somalia hijacked a North Korean naval ship. A nearby US ship came to the rescue, though. There are still four navy ships in the hands of pirates. Apparantly this has been going on for a long time. A pirate ship will pretend to be stranded and need help, and when a warship comes to help them, they board it and hold the ship for ransom.

Opinion: I want to be a pirate...
It's a little scary to think that men armed with rifles can take over a naval battleship so easily. Yes, the US did come to the rescue because we are amazing, but it does give you a little less confidence in the superiority of the organized navies.

I bet the UN would look carefully--NOT.

Scary. Pirates are still on the high seas.
