The infamous cubs fan steve bartman may be at the cubs game tonight at chase field the fan is well known for his overzealous effort for a foul ball which caused the cubs to lose the game and eventually the series last year against the marlins in the 2003 playoffs for those who don’t know the marlins eventually went on to win the world series that year
Im surprised that this guy is still alive that’s how serious the Chicago cubs fans are this man only added to the years of bad luck the cubs have had that looked like the year but then all of a sudden they lose because of an over zealous fan to bad this year isn’t going to be any different go d-backs

Asu is going after high schoold around the country telling them that mascots close to that of asu’s should be stopped and gotten rid of the latest target is a high school in salem VA asu has told the school that they need to find a new mascot and change the school logo the controversy has sparked outrage in the community and the highschool has no attention in changing there mascot
I saw the logo of the school in VA and it looks nothing like the asu logo and I think that asu is being stupid about the whole thing there are numerous schools around the country that have the same logo’s as collages and other pro sports teams and asu is the only one making a fuss the fact that it dosent even look similar makes me mad also I think Washington state is going to come get us soon for our cougar mascot

Ethiopia pledges 5000 to help end the fighting in darfur the people estimate that 20000 people have died in the fighting in the sudan war raveged region everyday un peace keepers are dying in darfur ethiopie is one of the only nations who pledged support all the ogther African countries have tried to send support but cant sustain a stable army and send peacekeepers at the same time wven Nigeria one of the best armies in Africa couldn’t send help
This is good because things in darfur are messed up and it is about time someone helped out overthere; the are also trying to get help from other western countries I don’t really know that the un is doing half of the time it seems like they just send people places and nothing ever gets done

Noth korea and south korea’s leaders met and both confident that the other will be able to work out an agreement ond propose some sort of peace treaty between the two countries if it were to happen It would end a stand off that has lasted since the cold war and an unofficial armistice that took place at the end of the Korean war today it is still proven that the north south Korean border is the most heavily guarded border in the entire world and maybe that will be able to change
I think is a bunch of baloney they are probably just saying this because it looks good on a national scale Hitler did the same thing back in wwii im sure kim jeong ill will be back at his evil ways in a few days

International: Girl swims with bound hands and feet
Summary: Huang Li a 10-year-old girl was bound by her hands and her feet and then dropped into a chilly China river in Beijing, China by her father. The girl’s father said that he would never do anything to hurt his daughter and that it was her idea in the first place. Huang Li’s dream is to one-day swim the English Channel. She got the idea of tying her hands and feet together from watching a show on TV and decided that by tying her hands and her feet together that it would enhance her swimming skills. She swam for three hours in the chilly china river while her dad swam right next to her. Her dad said she used the swimming technique of a dolphin and would sometimes paddle with her bound hands. Her dad said that he believed that it was a great idea and so he decided to do what his daughter asked. After three hours of swimming with bound hands and feet, Huang’s father pulled her out of the water. Onlookers have said that the little girls face had turned blue by being in the water so long, but other than that she seemed fine.
Opinion: how crazy does someone have to be to tie their child’s hands and feet together and then drop them in cold water and watch the swim for three hours? How ridiculous is that? No matter if the girl asked or not the father should have been wiser and said no. What he did to his little girl is so dangerous and he is so lucky that nothing serious happened. As for the little girl there are other ways to train for swimming than to do what she did. No matter how great of a swimmer you are you should never do what this family did. It is way to dangerous and way to high of a risk for something to go wrong.
National: Carjacking
Summary: In Omaha, Nebraska this past Wednesday, Amber Blakeman and her 10-month-old son, Cayden, were driving in their car when they stopped at a light. When they stopped 3 young women came up to the drivers side window and asked if they could get a ride when Amber said no the young women said fine we will just take your car then. After hitting Amber’s face and pulling her by her hair they finally got her out of her vehicle. After getting up Amber worried because she didn’t know where her son was. She finally heard the screams o her child coming from down the street where the women had stolen their car. It appeared that the baby had been thrown from the car. After getting help Amber and Cayden were released from the hospital on Thursday with minor injuries. Amber is still pretty shook up from the incident but both mom and son will be just fine. Later that evening the women were found with the car and arrested.
Opinion: What sane person could throw a baby from a car?!?! I mean a child is so innocent especially a 10 month old. The women should have severe punishment. I feel so terrible for the mother and her son. I would expect for the mom and son to be terribly shaken up and struggle with some fears for quite sometime. What happened to them I hope never to happen again not only to them but to anyone else. It is so terribly sad to hear of such a thing happening. What is the world coming to??

Summary- About 2700 safe from S. Africa mine
In Carletonville, South Africa, a mine shaft collapsed after a pressurized air pipe burst, crippling the main elevator and leaving more than 3000 miners trapped over a mile underground. Over 2700 miners have been rescued so far, around 20 hours after being trapped. The miners have been getting to the surface in a second, smaller elevator, that can only take about 75 people to the surface at a time. There was no food or water in the mine according to one worker, although food and water have been lowered to those workers remaining. The entire mine extends well over 2 miles deep into the ground, and the purpose is mining gold. Harmony Gold Mining Co, the company that owns the mine, is the second-largest gold-producing company in the world.
Opinion-
Wow this mine is huge! You can see a schematic and pictures of it here. I can see why they would need over 3000 workers to mine. One thing that is remarkable about this company is that they have never had any fatalities caused by mining accidents. It sounds as if this accident will not cause any either. This is an amazing track record for a South African company, I think. This was an honest mistake I believe, maybe the pipe was just old or it had defects, but good for the company for getting these workers out in less than 24 hours.

Summary- Craig vows to stay despite court loss
Senator Craig now is fighting the ruling that he does not deserve to redo his previous guilty plea in the airport sex sting operation, plus he will not resign his Senate seat like he vowed to do earlier in the year. He originally pleaded guilty to the charges, which included soliciting sex.
Opinion-
This idiot has probably done more harm to the ethics of the Republican party than any other one person. He has to resign from the party, he has to resign from his Senate seat, he has to disappear from the public eye. That's it, its what he must do. Come on he already pleaded guilty... now he is vehemently denying that any of the charges are true, when the cop was there, he knew what he was looking for and he found it in this guy. As to the Senator being framed... who would frame him? He is not known... not running for President... just joe republican senator from Idaho of all places. Its a disgrace... he has to resign. Hey at least he is not running again next year.

National: Oops Britney did it again
Summary: This past week custody of Britney Spears and K-feds children (Sean 2, and Jayden 1) was giving fully to K-fed. Spears’s custody was taken away from her after she failed to show a valid driver’s license and failed to show up for a drug and alcohol test. Spears has been known to put soda in her kid’s bottles, whitening their teeth, and driving them around without them being in a car seat. She has been labeled to be the worst mother ever and is known for her melt downs and all night partying. She has been sent to rehab but it didn’t seem to help. She has pretty much disowned her family and many of her workers have quit. Spears does not seem to be to upset about the custody issue because the day her rights were taking away she was seen going to a tanning bed and just having a good time. We are not sure if Spears will get her custody back but one thing is for certain that she has to completely change her act before the judge would even consider putting those children back in her hands.
Opinion: Britney has made some really stupid decisions. I think she became a mother way to soon. She was not ready for all the responsibilities of motherhood. She is still a teenager at heart. I do believe it is hard for Britney because she has grown up in the spot light pretty much her whole life and everything she does seems to be caught on camera. I believe that paparazzi should leave her alone and just let her live her life without all the judgment. The Judge did make the right decision on taking her kids away from her. She is not fit to be a mother right now. She needs to get her act together and realize what she is doing wrong. She is not only dangering herself in what she does but her children. I believe that for right now Sean and Jayden are better off with their father (Kevin Federline).
International: Princess Diana…pregnant?
Summary: Recently discovered footage of Princess Diana and her lover Dodi Fayed in an elevator right before her death leads to suspicion of her being in the early stages of pregnancy before she passed away. Dodi has been said to be seen going to a jewelry store weeks before her death. We are not sure if he was going there to buy an engagement ring or not. Investigators have proclaimed it to be impossible to know if Princess Diana was pregnant or not. This is one of those unsolved mysteries that we may never know the truth about.
Opinion: I believe that it is ridiculous to bring up evidence like this about Princess Diana. To me I find it very disrespectable to start rumors about anyone especially the dead. Princess Diana was such a wonderful woman and even if she was pregnant and going to get engaged what does it matter now? There is now way to prove it ad I believe we need to let this woman alone and let her rest in peace. We need to stop bringing up new things about her death because in some way it is disrespectful to her family. Her family has moved on and so should we. Let it go and focus on present not the past.

Mr. Gates has been working up on Saddleback Mountain for over 25 years. What could keep a man of 52 years up in a mountain for so long? Fire watching. Mr. Gates lives in a glass shack above 6,000 feet sea level. Throughout his career he has spotted over 100 fires; 2 within this past September. Mr. Gates is an observer, and loves to gaze at the landscape. He does have a winter home in Florida, but the lifestyle there is nothing compared to the majestic view from the lookout.
Opinion:
When I am older, I really hope I have a passion like this man does. He goes weeks without speaking to another human being, or seeing any fires. He has peace and rest. He serves a purpose, and one of my biggest fears in growing old is that I will lose purpose. If it is at all possible to find something like this, I would take it in a heartbeat. I am jealous of this man.

Summary:
The Paramount has been a symbol of many different things to many different people from the time of its construction in the early 20Th century. The Paramount started out as a casino for the wealthy business men in Shanghai, but then it trickled down the social ladder. When communism took the stage, the building was re-named the Red Capitol Cinema, a place where Socialist videos were shown. Eventually the building became vermin-filled and desolate. Then, a Taiwanese man invested 3 million dollars in the building to be restored to its original grandeur. Now, people of all sorts of ages and social classes come to the Paramount to dance their worries away. When one is in the ballroom, the age is forgotten and the past swirls up around the visitor like a reoccurring dream.
Opinion:
This place sounds amazing! I really really really want to visit there. I LOVE TO DANCE! and I think it would be amazing to stand in a building so full of history, Asian history especially, which I am not so familiar with but will still leave an impression on me. These are the types of things I live for. Small moments and places in the vast expansion of life that make it all worth while.

Some parents and students are angry about Oyster River High School's senior T-shirts.The front said Oyster River High School seniors. The back said 08 Pushing The Limit, with a little paw print that resembled a decimal point before the numbers.Students said the .08 is a reference to the blood alcohol limit. It is not clear who created the shirts, but students said they were paid for by the senior class. The school's superintendent said he will investigate who designed the shirts and who approved them. High school officials would not comment on the controversy. The shirts have not been banned, but a letter was sent home urging parents not to let their children wear them to school.
I really don't see the harm in wearing a shirt. Maybe if the shirt said, "I'm going to kill you all!" There would be reason for concern. All this suggest is that they might drink, and let's face it most of the students are going to get dunk at college if they haven't already. I think the shirt is rather clever I wish I had come up with the idea.

Muslim and Jewish groups on Monday began to criticize John McCain for calling the United States a "Christian" nation. The hopeful candidate for President made this remark to a reporter for a website that discuss Religion and Beliefs. McCain said that he agrees with the 55% of Americans that think is country is based on Christian morals and values. McCain in a later interview bit his tongue about what he said before and said that he thinks anyone of any faith can run for president and said that he was angry that his remarks were misconstrued. Ibrahim Hooper, American-Islamic council, said that McCain failed to recognize that Christianity is not the only religion that deals with human dignity.
Opinion:
I would have to agree with Mr. McCain on this one. I do think that our founding fathers meant for this country to atleast have some christian values and that the constitution was based on those values. Im getting really sick of other religous groups getting their underwear all twisted when somebody drops the "christian" bomb. I do think that other religions deal with human dignity but Christianity was just one McCain reffered too. If a Muslim would of said that he believes a Muslim should run the country or something along those lines I really dont think anyone would be all up in arms about it.

An intense manhunt was under way Monday for Chester Stiles, a 37-year old man whom police say is a suspect in the videotaped rape of a 3-year-old girl four years ago. De Meo addressed Stiles directly: "Turn yourself in to your local law enforcement agency. Understand this: Law enforcement not only has a long arm but a long memory. You will not be forgotten by members of this agency or any other law enforcement agency."
Opinion:
This guy is the reason why we created the death penalty. This man is disgusting and should be shot. I feel really bad for the little girl and her family. How can somebody do something to a little innocent girl. I really hope they find this guy and turn him into a eunuch.
