National: Police kill man who shot at La Law Office

On Thursday afternoon, in Alexandria, La, police shot and killed a man. His name was John Ashley. He reportedly shot five people in a downtown law office. He killed two and the other three were hospitalized. The 63-year-old former city worker opened fire without any known motives. Two of the wounded victims managed to escape, and the police rescued the third. Ashley was killed in an exchange of gunfire. Before the shooting, the gunman had fought off the officers' attempts to reach and help the victims.

Opinion: First of all, I am upset that a killer has my name associated with him! And secondly I think incidents like this are horrible! Stupid people like John Ashley are the worst shooters ever. They are just silly people who have no motive or reason to kill people at all! He was probably just having a bad day and was bored and decided he wanted to take out his anger on people. This man is truly an idiot and I'm not really sorry that the police shot him.

International: U.S. kills 25 Shiite militia fighters

On Friday U.S. forces killed 25 Shiite militia fighters north of Baghdad, in an operation targeting a cell accused of smuggling weapons from Iran. Gunmen opened fire on the soldiers in Khalis, a place about 50 miles north of Baghdad. They had assault rifles and granades. U.S. soldiers called in for air support when the fighters kept coming. According to an Iraqi army official, the U.S. bombed the neighborhood and said that 7 children were killed and three wounded amoung the 28 others whom were also wounded.

Opinion: Mr Hjort you already know what I have to say about this. I hate the thought of anyone dying. We need to get out of this war ASAP! I don't want to kill anymore of our own soldiers and I have no desire for the death of the innocent Iraqi people. I understand that they hate us but so does every other country! Get out of Iraq while we have the chance, is all I have to say.

National: Convicted tax evaders arrested

A couple convicted of tax evasion in Concord, N.H., were arrested at their Plainfield home, Thursday night. They went peacefully after keeping themselves held up in their home for months. Ed and Elaine Brown were convicted on federal tax charges in January and refused to turn themselves in to authorities. They were earlier sentenced in April to five years and three months in prison.

Opinion: Hahahaha these people are silly! Man I thought I hated paying for stuff, but these two took it to the extreme! That is like the dumbest thing to go to jail for. They should've just paid their stupid taxes instead of living like hermits in their house. Wierdos!
