Clinton Stresses Voter Turnout in Key Tuesday Primaries

Summary:
SAN ANTONIO — With her closing arguments made, Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton turned her attention to the mechanics of delivering voters to the polls in a round of primaries Tuesday that could hold the key to the future of her presidential ambitions. “This is one of the most momentous decisions any Texan could make,” Clinton told key activists as she launched a last-weekend blitz. “You are, in effect, hiring the next president of the United States.” Clinton was winging back and forth between Texas and Ohio, two key prizes in the next round of primaries, and both seen as competitive contests with rival Barack Obama. She opened her weekend by rallying backers at a training session aimed at preparing activists for the incredibly complex primary system, widely known as the “Texas two-step.” Two-thirds of the delegates at stake in Texas will be picked during a traditional primary. That’s followed Tuesday night by a round of caucuses in the state’s 8,000 precincts where the other third will be allocated.

Opinion:
I think it’s very intelligent of her to push for a high voter turn out, especially from the people of Texas and Ohio. It promotes her campaign and could possible allow her to win the nomination. I hope the extra effort and work that she is putting forth is beneficial in the outcome of this election.

When Pigs Fly? Letter Urges Deceased Potbelly to Register to Vote

Summary:
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — ‘Tis the season for mudslinging, and no one knows that better than Pamela Winston, who recently received a letter encouraging her deceased potbellied pig Princess to register to vote, MyFoxTampaBay.com reported. The correspondence, addressed to “Princess Winston,” was part of the Washington, D.C.-based Voter Participation Center’s efforts targeting unmarried, unregistered women in two states, including Florida, where Pamela Winston lives. “I found that a little strange,” she said in the story. Two days later, she received a follow-up call reminding Princess to return her voter registration application, MyFoxTampaBay.com reported. A spokeswoman for the center said there is no way to figure out how the pig’s name ended up on its lists.

Opinion:
This is so funny! It’s just like when a newborn baby receives a pre-approved credit card application in the mail. This is a great example of our slow government. I think its good that we are trying to increase the amount of voters, but we should be getting the information from a reliable source.
