Economists: No global collapse in '08

summary: Even though the battered housing market and credit crisis have created turmoil in financial markets, economists expect global growth to slow rather than collapse next year. Citigroup's Economic and Market Analysis group said the global economy has shown resilience to the strains in the core of the financial system. They also said that emerging markets should remain robust next year, driven by growth in most of Asia.

Opinion: It's always goog to see and hear those optimistic articles. Well, however, the reality doesn't quite go that optimistic. It is also true that asin markets and economy is growing, that means China and India. I don't really believe what they say but I really do hope that the economy and all the global situations would get better so that we would live a better life.

U.S. dollar falls to all-time low vs euro

summary: The U.S. dollar fell to an all-time low against the 13-nation euro as traders awaited housing data. The euro and the pound have been climbing steadily against the dollar since August amid fears for the health of the U.S. economy, stoked by the subprime credit crisis. The euro hit its last all-time high of $1.4752 on November 9.

opinion: oh well, this is a good news for right now. i can get more dollars for the same amount of money. However, looking for a long term view, this is definately not a good situation. For right now, America might like this for the temporary money making from exports but the strong euro means they are going to be the center of the economy. The "police nation" is good when there is just one.

China probe captures lunar image

summary: China displayed the first image of the moon captured by its Chang'e 1 lunar probe at a gala ceremony. Premier Wen Jiabao said, "the Chinese race's 1,000-year-old dream of exploring the moon." China hopes the probe, launched late last month, will have surveyed the entire surface of the moon at least once by early next year.

Opinion: Well I personally do not want china to get any improvement. I just don't like them. If they get too much technology, the world would be a scary place to live. (well we have to say it is already a scary place to live for the population problems and a quarter of the world population is chinese) Moreover, I'm also scared that when they are coming back to earth, they would fall in random places and crack up because it ll have a sticker on the body saying; made in china

Tropical storms threaten tens of thousands in Philippines, Vietnam

summary: Vietnam government said Tropical Storm Hagibis was expected to hit the country's southern region. In one province alone they estimated that up to 200,000 people would be evacuated to gymnasiums, churches and schools when Tropical Storm Mitag was forecast to make landfall. itag could became a "super typhoon" with winds of more than 138 mph by the time it hits land in the Philippines.

Opinion: Very sad news for them. I still remember being a 7th grade student in korea getting afraid of the typhoon. Every year, in eastern asian countries are threatened by typhoons. Every year! And, we get tremendous amount of loss, both economically and physically. I seriously hope the genius scientists, like me, would develop some special device that would melt up, suck up, blow up, whatever that can destroy, the typhoon.
