1:A desperate appeal from the president Wednesday failed to restore order to Haiti's shattered capital, and bands of looters sacked stores, warehouses and government offices.Gunfire rang out from the wealthy suburbs in the hills to the starving slums below as 9,000 U.N. peacekeepers were unable to halt a frenzy of looting and violence that has grown out of protests over rising food prices.
Thousands of people were in the streets of Port-au-Prince following President Rene Preval's speech, many looting stores and terrorizing drivers and shopkeepers with rocks. Thousands more took part other in protests across the country.

Opinion
Obviously the prices are high for a reason people need to start getting what they by working for it first. These people think we should pay for everything cause our country is wealthy but that's not the case we just work for our money. Those people do not think that they need to work for it and that is not good at all let them see how to fix it.

2:The parents of missing British girl Madeleine McCann implored the European Union on Thursday to set up a cross-border alert system for abducted children. Kate and Gerry McCann, whose daughter disappeared from a Portuguese resort in May 2007 just days before her 4th birthday, called for a system that would supply information on a missing child to the media, border authorities, and police and law enforcement officials across Europe.
They told lawmakers in the European Parliament that the system could be modeled on a similar program in the United States, the so-called "Amber" alert. They noted that the U.S. program helped recover 68 kidnapped children in 2007 -- and several hundred over the past five years.

Opinion
Hopefully this system works with this child and it being missing. It's so sad that someone would want to take a kid and wrong. I mean what is the point of it people are going to get caught eventually and with a lot of people hating them also. The peope that take the kids seem like they just are bored and have nothing to do it's wrong and needs to be stopped!!

1:A young mother has confessed to brutally slashing her daughter to death because she believed the child — who had a history of sleepwalking — was possessed by the devil, authorities in Illinois said this week. Nelly Vasquez-Salazar, 25, is being held on $5 million bond after appearing in court Tuesday to face a first-degree murder charge.
Authorities found the body of Vasquez-Salazar's 6-year-old daughter, Evelyn Vasquez, early Monday morning in the family's Waukegan, Ill., apartment. The child, who died of multiple stab wounds to her neck and upper chest, according to the coroner, was found on the floor of her bedroom.

Opinion
I think that is so absurb and wrong!!!! This mother most likely was on something i swear you should know that your kid is sleep walking. Especially if someone has told you that is what they are doing!! I think she should beon the death role because she killed an innocent kid!!

2:Recent high-profile videos featuring real-life "mean girls" have created interest and a conversation about a possible increase in girl-on-girl aggression, but in reality violence among teens has decreased. Physical violence among teens has dipped by 10 percent during the last 10 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
But media coverage and videos — like a recent incident where a gang beating of a 16-year-old girl was posted online — have contributed to chatter about girls' aggressiveness.

Opinion
This is wrong and so rude!!! I think that girl shouldn't have been talking crap but for them to take it that far is wrong a don't get people sometimes. Girls are violent and need to take a chill pill when people talk bad bout them its not that bad to send a girl to the hospital for it.
