National: Tonga royals killed by teenager

Summary:
Friday, August 24, 2007, Edith Delgado was sentenced to two years in the county jail after many months of trials and over a year from the accident. In the car accident, Delgado killed two people from the royal family of Tonga and the driver on July 5, 2006. It is said that she was racing someone else when she ran into the victims’ car. Delgado will also have to serve probation for three years and pay compensation to the family members of the victims.

Opinion:
Delgado deserves the sentence she received because she had no reason to be racing on a public street. Whether or not racing is a bad past time, Delgado still had the responsibility of choosing a location of vacancy, for example a desert or empty field. A location of vacancy would ensure the safety of others even if the racing drivers’ lives were not ensured. If I lost a loved one, I would want justice against the criminal. Although Delgado did not kill the Tonga royals or the driver, she still needs to take the consequence of her actions.

International: South Korean hostages released

Summary:
In July of this year, nineteen volunteers from a South Korean church were taken captive while in Afghanistan. The victims were on their way to help at a hospital, when they were taken hostage. Wednesday, August 29, twelve hostages were release in three different bunches. The South Koreans were released only after an agreement with Korea and Afghanistan. The agreement was to remove Korea’s troops from Afghanistan.

Opinion:
The captives are blessed to be finally free from bondage. Their outcome could have been the same as the two male victims who were killed earlier on. I do not know the reason for this evil thing but no one every truly understands the inner drive to kill and terrify others. I believe the inner force comes from Satan for he delights in evil.
