International:

SUMMARY- A South Korean church sent a group of workers to Afghanistan. In order to allow the group to be released the withdrawal of troops must occur. South Korea generally does not consult with terrorist but they agreed to withdrawal 200 troops from Afghanistan by the end of the year. All missionaries from South Korea must not go to Afghanistan. Two men were killed by the Taliban and 12 of 19 hostages were released but some are still being held in captivity.

OPINION- I am very sad to hear that Afghanistan is prohibiting all South Korean missionaries from entering Afghanistan, although, it is good that most hostages are being released. I believe that the hostages will be in great danger until all are back home. As the soldiers are evacuated the hostages most likely will be released.

National:

SUMMARY- Two Labradors, Lucky and Flo, have been trained to smell for DVD’s. DVD piracy is more than an 18 billion dollar industry. There is no specific scent to bootleg DVDs but the trainers take the dogs to places where DVD’s should be labeled properly but may be labeled “bedposts”. Therefore the dogs have found pirated DVDs.

OPINION- I think the dogs are very smart and may help stop crime if more dogs are trained. The two dogs are a start to the ending of piracy. The dogs will be very busy until more dogs are trained. I think that people will learn ways to disguise the DVD scent as time goes by and more dogs are trained.

*interesting video not pertaining to my summaries or opinions*

Put all four current events into one post.

Put some separation between summary and opinion.

Thanks
