International: Freed Hostages

Summary: Two hostages who had been held captive by Columbia were released and finally able to go back home to Venezuela. Dozens of friends and family members were waiting at the airport for them. They greeted the hostages with open arms. All were delighted to see these people back home safe and in there arms again. A mother was so happy to see her daughter she couldn’t hold back her tears. The daughter rapped her arms around her mother and seemed to finally be at peace again.

Opinion: It must have been so hard for both the hostages and their family and friends to be away from each other. I can’t even fathom how difficult that would be. Do be kept against your will somewhere must have been the worst feeling and experience. T be in a country and kept against will and not sure what is going to happen to you is probably the scariest thing that could happen. I am so glad that these two people were returned to their home where they could be with their family and friends once again.

International: Cub is taken away from mother

Summary: Zookeepers in Germany are caring for a four week old polar bear cub. The zookeepers took the cub away from its mother in fear that the mother was going to kill the cub. They said that the mother was showing signs of confusion and was taking the cub into places where no one could see what was going on. The zoo was sure that if they did not take the cub away from its mother that the cub was surely going to die. The zoo announced the cub to be a girl last Thursday and they are still working on a name for her.

Opinion: I believe that if the zoo had any feeling that the cub was in danger that they did the right thing. The mother obviously seemed confused on what to do and the cub was not safe with her. I believe that the zoo will do an awesome job raising this cub without its mother and that she will grow up healthy and strong and able to return to the area where the other polar bears are at as soon as she is big enough. The zoo did the right thing and seems tobe doing a wonderful job with this little cub.

I agree.

Weird that we are taking a cub from a mother bear. Just sounds unnatural.
