Murphy James International

1.) Summary:
In the Congo, the Tutsi are on the verge of being a cause of another war. The Congolese people feel that the Tutsi living in the Congo are more Rwandan than they are Congolese, even though some families have been there for generations. General Nkunda, a Congolese Tutsi, has a small army to protect the Tutsi living in the Congo, and a displacement camp in the Eastern Jungle. While he feels that he is protecting the Tutsi, the fact that only 20 Tutsi have been killed in the past two years and he has imprisoned and/or killed thousands in order to keep the Tutsi safe, has people irked and worried. Could the Congo go into another ethnic war?

Opinion:
At this point, I believe all of Africa really just needs some help. The UN should start doing more than just "observing the peace." How about controlling the peace, or enforcing the peace? Someone needs to go over there and show these people how to make the most of what they have and how to have a stable government. It doesn't even have to be a democracy, if they can show that they can govern in a good way! Millions of people have been killed over this ethnic debate. Isn't it time for all of this to stop? The hatred has to end. Kids need a chance at life, a chance to have parents; they shouldn't be recruited for rebel armies! Girls shouldn't be scared of being raped and murdered. This isn't how it is supposed to be.

2.) In Kenya, the post-election chaos has left thousands displaced. Most of these people are Kikuyu. The Kikuyu are the privileged class in Kenya, and the President is a member of the Kikuyu tribe. What has the Luo in such an uproar? The election is said to have been rigged, and the supporters of Raiulu Odengo, the opposition to the President, are furious.
Odengo's supporters, as well as Western observers, believe that since the results are false, the election should be redone. Kenyans are asking the president to call for international help in this time of tribal warfare, but he says that the problem is internal.

Opinion:
Again, something needs to be done in Africa. Between tribal warfare and AIDS, the African population is going to be decimated. Isn't it our moral responsibility to help? If we can go help the people in Iraq, we should be able to go help Africa. The UN should step in, the UK should step in, we should step in, any one who can help should throw in their hat. Why isn't Africa just as important as the Middle East? Is it because they have no oil? Human lives should always be more important than natural resources. End of story.

Murphy: That movie in Bible must have really affected you... but it was very powerful. I agree with you on these issues. And thanks for agreeing with me in English lol...

Tribal warfare is a major problem in Africa.

Funding doesn't help because it never gets to those in need because of the corruption, similiar to Mexico.
