Bloomberg Effect

SUMMARY
Richardson, the candidate with the most foreign policy experience has with drawn from the campaign for president and Bloomberg, who has the most pocket change, wants to step in. Bloomberg is having research done to see if it would be a smart choice to jump into the race and serve as a center for democrats and republicans. He could be a good candidate because he thinks he could bring both sides together. The only problem is that there are already to candidates that are taking care of the “on the fence” group. Obama is winning the republican vote and McCain is siding more with the democrats. Many people think that he would make a good president, but many of the people also said they would not vote for him.

OPINION
This election stuff is crazy. If you think a lot of cattiness goes on in high school, in politics it is way worse. People are always tearing others down in order to get a vote. The candidates are all so diverse and strong components that a true prediction is hard to make, and for a guy like Bloomberg, he has a lot to think about and consider before he decides to go on this ride because it will cost a lot of money and time and energy.

INTERNATIONAL

Bush goes to the Middle East

SUMMARY
President Bush has gone back to the Middle East for the first time since he was a Texas governor. He has not touch the issue of the peace between Israel and Palestine since the first year he was president. Now seven years later and racing against the clock, he hopes to get a peace treaty signed between the two countries before he leaves office. This will be especially difficult because “the leaders are weak, the gaps are large, and the time is short”. Others say he has been working diligently over the last seven years making building blocks in order to lead to this treaty. But things are so weak in the Middle East right now that it will be hard to focus on only one issue in such a short time.

OPINION
In order for Bush to be able to achieve this task of his, he is going to need a miracle from God. It is prophesied that until the day Jesus returns, there will never be peace in the Middle East. I would love for Bush to accomplish this and I’m going to pray and support him to get this done. If he is able to accomplish this and help our economy at the same time, I think peoples respect for the man will change.

Kerry for Obama

SUMMARY
Kerry stands in front of a crowd and said a speech to promote Obama saying “Obama can be, will be, and should be the next president”. During this speech he totally disregards Edwards and is even happy that he decided to withdraw from the campaign to clear more room for Obama. But in all fairness, Edwards did criticize Kerry for there loss in 2004 and things have never been the same since. Since the two met in Illinois, in 2002 when Obama ran for the senate the two have been considered to be “liberal soul mates”.

OPINION
It is hard to tell if Obama is so popular because he is Obama or because so many well known, popular people are endorsing him. This election seems more like a popularity contest than an even t that will best benefit our country. It is almost as if we should be testing to see how good the candidates look on a coin or a bill before we decide how we vote because we want to make sure to get the best looking candidate. If I was Edwards, I would feel betrayed by Kerry especially if I helped him run for president by being his vice president.

Kenya’s Tourist Industry

SUMMARY
Not only are terrible things occurring in Kenya, but it is also scaring many people away from the country, especially the tourist. This is impacting their economy because without tourists in the tourist based areas the merchants are unable to sell and many people are getting laid off. Without tourists there is a chain reaction that is occurring that is affecting their entire economy. All of these problems are occurring because an election went wrong. Now when the country is in one of its lower points, they don’t have a strong leader to help them because one of the leader candidates is now dead. If the economy is bad in Kenya, it could very likely also affect many other countries including the United State.

OPINIONThings like this make us realize the evil sin can create in people’s lives. How can God allow this to happen to us, and allow so many people to suffer? I wish I could go there and be a missionary, so I could bring hope to these people in a time of despair. It seems like every day something else goes wrong in the world and hardly anyone is aware of these issues. I think if more people were aware of such awful things they would not take things for granted and would also want to help make
