Murphy James National Articles; week of nov. 9

1st summary:
Many people use the internet to advertise for their businesses, and it can be rather successful. So why not campaing for your presidency on the internet as well? That is exactly what Romney did. One of his campaing members registered Romney on advertise.com, and answered a series of questions. They requested that the advertisment did not appear on dating sites or pornographic sites. However, for two days Romney's add ran on Gay.com, an internet dating site for gays. This damaged his campaing somewhat, since Romney is against gay marriages.
opinion:
this just goes to show that the internet still has its flaws, and should be used with the upmost care. even if you request certain important details, those details can very easily be lost in the virtual world of communication. i'm sure internet advertising is a great way to get publicity, but you also have to be expecting some glitches.

2nd summary:
New York, for the last twenty years, has had a program that lets minority foster care programs work with the neighborhoods to help children receive better lives. However, there has been some corruption in the system, and now they might have to close the entire project down. This talk has several neighborhoods upset. While there has been several accounts of fraud and other offenses, there have been a few number of care programs that have done good.
Opinion:
I think it was a great idea and I'm glad they experimented with it. I think that if they get all the glitches worked out, it could be an extremely successful program. However, with the evidence of such corruption, the best bet may be to close the program down for a few years until they can create a better system.
