Summary:

In Beijing, China a gas leak killed 29 coal miners Thursday in southwest China, while another six are missing and presumed dead, state media said. Xinhua News Agency said the accident happened at the Qunli mine in Nayong County in Guizhou province. It said rescue workers had recovered 28 bodies. Fifty-two miners were rescued, but one later died.” The other six miners have a slim chance of survival," Xinhua said. The cause of the gas leak was not immediately known. The government warned recently that China's mining industry, the most dangerous in the world, would likely see more accidents as output was boosted to provide heating for the winter months. China's coal mines average 13 deaths a day in fires, explosions and floods, despite government efforts to improve safety.

Opinion:

Mining accidents are terrible. So many lives are taken through this kind of stuff. I really don’t like hearing about this kind of stuff. It’s so sad. Accidents like these are so devastating not just to read about but for all of the families and people involved. They have to be much more careful up there. It’s already considered one of the most dangerous mining areas, so that calls for more drastic protection. That includes the government to do something about it.

Summary:

In Tuusula, Finland flags were flying at half-staff Thursday and government workers observed three minutes of silence a day after a teenager opened fire at his high school, killing eight people before fatally turning the gun on himself. Police probing Finland's first known school shooting said Thursday that a picture was emerging of the gunman as a lonely, antisocial 18-year-old who acted alone and left a suicide note saying good-bye to his family, but that his motive was unclear. Police said the victims, all of whom were from the school, were apparently picked at random. Six were students, one was the 61-year-old school headmistress and one was the 42-year-old school nurse. Ten other people were wounded in the attack.

Opinion:

Suicidal acts are becoming way too common in our world today. Teenagers are becoming so hostile and so dangerous, you wonder if it is even safe to go to school anymore. Sadly the answer is no and this story proves it. This boy endangered and killed his fellow classmates and administration. The reason is still unclear and with that information so many questions are raised. There has to be action taken against things like this. There needs to be a change and it needs to happen fast before it’s too late.

Summary:

In Atlanta Josh Smith scored 22 points, rookie Al Horford led a dominant performance on the boards and the Atlanta Hawks beat another 60-win team from last season, holding off Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns 105-96 Wednesday night. The suns have another loss which is already hurting them. They weren’t together once again and a lot of work is needed to be done.

Opinion:

The suns honestly need to step up their game pronto!!!! They either play really good or really really bad and last night perfect example of bad. Without staudemire the entire team is suffering. Steve Nash is holding this team together with his ability and leadership in everything he says and does. They just need to become one again and they will be just fine. The suns need to find that inner heart and dig deep to pull this out.

Summary:

ASU lost to the Oregon ducks!! What the heck. The devils were undefeated until this game. The ducks beat the devils 24-17. no excuses. It is a terrible loss and a hard one, but with ASU’s skill and abilitly bouncing back from this should not be a problem at all. The ducks had a very nice game with their fans on their side; it was unfortunate for the devils.

Opinion:

ASU lost and that always sucks. They should have won and in my opinion I think that if this game were here in Tempe they would have won. Oregon is a tough field to play on without a doubt. It is intimidating and scary, but that’s no excuse. They will have to pick thing up for the next game and they will hopefully come out with a victory because ASU is amazing end of story! Go devils!
