4-Year-Old Falls Into Grand Canyon
Source: KPHO.com - News10-09-2007 6:05 PM

Summary: A 4-year-old girl on a vacation trip to the Grand Canyon dies after slipping off the canyon edge and falling several hundred feet. The girl fell near Mather Point just before noon and her father immediately scrambled down the cliffs to reach her, National Park Service spokeswoman Maureen Oltrogge said.
He started CPR, and a Park Service ranger who rappelled down into the canyon also began trying to resuscitate the little girl. A second ranger was lowered to the site by helicopter and determined the child was dead, Oltrogge said.
The child's body was recovered from a spot about 400 to 500 feet below the rim, Oltrogge said. The area where she fell is a combination of sheer drops of 30 to 50 feet, then slopes leading to more dropoffs. It is considered the most popular scenic view in the park. The girl's father suffered an ankle injury while scrambling over the edge to reach her. Oltrogge said the child's death is a reminder to everyone that extreme care needs to be taken at the canyon rim, especially with children. "It's a tragic reminder of how a family vacation can turn tragic in an instant," Oltrogge said, "Our thought and prayers are with the family."
The girl is from Arizona, but her name and hometown won't be released until Wednesday, Oltrogge said. National Park Service rangers continue conducting an investigation.

Opinion: ...Wow! poor thing...umm for a parent to witness the death of their child...thats probably the hardest thing in the world. I mean, this father put his life on the line for his child...expected, BUT....how did she fall? Well i guess since im not a parent its easier for me to say "KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR KIDS!!!!!!" That one second it took this family to turn and laugh at the wierd guy with the lime green shirt was the same second that their precious little girl wanted to look over the edge of the Grand Canyon...all I can say is this family will be in my prayers for quite some time...starting NOW! [Dear Heavenly Father I come to you with a bowed head and an open heart. I ask that you be with the family of this young girl as they are going through their time of mourning. I pray that the family of the young girl is a God fearing family, and in times like this they come to You. I just pray that the family manages to stay strong and trust in You. In Jesus' name...Amen]

Summary: An already difficult second NFL season came to an end for Arizona's Matt Leinart on Tuesday when he was placed on injured reserve with a broken collarbone. Kurt Warner, the 36-year-old quarterback who had shared duties with Leinart, moves into the starting job. The team signed Tim Rattay on Tuesday to be Warner's backup.

Opinion: So St. Luis Rams, Will Witherspoon, Sacks the heck put of Leinart, and now his collar bone Is destroyed!!!!!! And as a replacement they are using OLD, DUSTY, Kurt Warner...WOMP~WOmp~womp!!!!!! Cardinals are back to the smelly old team their known for! Hey at least Rattay is is the spot light...kinda...sorta...ok, maybe not at all. But he's next on the list!!!!....Wait that means P.C. loses a coach...oh well. Horrible story at the Grand Canyon.

Rattay gets quite the welcome this Sunday.
