Romney Suspends Presidential Campaign
SUMMARY
Today (Thursday), Mitt Romney ended his run for the Republican presidential nominee saying that if he continued it would forestall the launch of a national campaign and be making it easier for Senator Clinton and Obama to win. He said that this is not an easy decision, he doesn’t like to lose but he feels that he has to stand aside for his party and for his country. With Romney now out Senator McCain has locked in as the front-runner for the GOP race. McCain had 697 delegates after Super Tuesday compared to Romney’s 286. Romney agreed with McCain on doing whatever it takes to be successful in Iraq and doing whatever it takes to find and execute Osama bin Laden. McCain later called Romney and told him that he admired his speech and that he was a tough competitor.

OPINION
I’m glad Mitt decided to stop running. At least he finally realized that he had absolutely positively no shot at winning the GOP race. Furthermore he was way smart to realize that him dropping would better his party, he mentioned that in his speech. If Mitt were to have been on top with more delegates and eventually win the GOP ticket he would have a very tough time winning the presidency because like we found out during Super Tuesday he won like no southern states, the bible belt, because he’s a Mormon. I don’t think he’s a bad guy they just won’t vote for a Mormon.

McCain Tries to Make His Case with Conservatives
SUMMARY
Despite McCain’s big wins on Super Tuesday he has yet to secure the support of the conservatives of his party. He heads to Washington to convince rich-conservatives that he’s their man. At the conference McCain, Romney, Huckabee, and Paul are all scheduled to speak. The conference is the country’s largest annual gathering of activists, students and policymakers according to the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Committee). McCain said that he wants everyone to just calm down and see if there are just some issues we can agree on. Comments like this made conservative talk-radio hosts light into McCain.

OPINION
I hope McCain can impress the conservatives. He’s already going to win the GOP ticket but he still sways on so many issues and votes all over the board it’s good to set people straight. I’ve heard so many say that they would rather vote for Ron Paul because at least he’s a consistent voter and he wants to get us out of the war (we wouldn’t be in a war of not for the Clinton’s). Anyway, hopefully McCain can make a good impression, that’s always important, and when he makes the ticket people like him and he can pick a good VP and maybe win the presidency. I don’t know if he’s the nest republican but he’s going to win it so it’s all about McCain now.

Chinese Web Sites Sued Over Piracy
SUMMARY
Music companies have sued major Chinese web sites like Baidu.com and Sohu.com of illegal piracy. The suits asked a Beijing court to order the two companies to remove from their search engines links to thousands of sites that carry unlicensed copies of music, the international Federation of Phonographic industries said. Music lost a prior lawsuit against Baidu.com but since China has changed its piracy standards. Notices were sent to Baidu to get them to comply but they failed to comply. China is a leading source of pirated music, software, movies and other goods. Companies say that violations are growing even thought Beijing has stepped up penalties and enforcement efforts.

OPINION
It’s funny I’m doing this article and if you know me well you know why. Anyways if I was Sony and people I would sue too. You’re paying your artists and movies stars to make you records and movies and these sites are making it all free and no one gets a profit. We have so many websites here in America alone for songs, movies, software, pictures, and the list goes on. I think piracy is unfair to the artist/actor as well as the companies. People are cheating the companies, and as much as it’s wrong I think it’s right. With movie prices so high it just makes sense to get the movie off some pirated website for free. At least this way you stay up with the movies and you don’t go poor cause you spent it all on movie tickets.

Nudity Rules Breached at Rio Carnival
SUMMARY
In Rio De Janeiro, Brazil a samba group performing was declared champion the fifth time in six years. But Beija Flor’s dancers were topless. The judges drew the line at going bottomless. They penalized the rival Sao Clemente group for breaking a rule against display of genitalia during its 80 minute parade. It was also widely believed that samba queen Viviane Castro danced with only a 1.6 inch patch believed to be the smallest in parade history. Beija Flor’s winning parade honored legends of the amazon rain forest, receiving a close perfect score of 399.3 of 400 which was held in Rio De Janeiro.

OPINION
As much as I think culture is important, and stuff like this probably is like a tradition or culture thong, I find it appalling. No one wants to see genitalia or topless girls just dancing in the street. How is that part of their culture? I think the judges are doing the right thing and putting a limit on how much they can show. Even though I think they are showing WAY too much at least they’ve begin to draw the line somewhere.
