Clinton and Obama Face Off

http://news.aol.com/elections/story/_a/clinton-goes-on-the-attack-in-debate/20080221164309990001

Clinton and Obama went head-to-head in a debate Thursday, sitting in an auditorium in a central Texas university. The two were polite with one another most of the time, but in some cases tension got hot. Especially when Clinton would assert that Obama does not have the experience required to be president, and Obama would fire back with his message of change. At one point, not received well by the audience, Clinton said “lifting whole passages from someone else's speeches is not change you can believe in, it's change you can Xerox.” Rhode Island, Vermont, and Ohio’s primaries are on the same day as Texas’.

I think Clinton hands down in this debate, seems to have her feet on the ground more than Obama. I loved her comment about the Xerox, it was great! But more than that, I think her point on actions speaking louder than words was great to. Not that I would probably agree with most of her actions, but Obama doesn’t have much background to stand on. Most in the AOL poll say Obama won the debate, but on the other hand most in the AOL poll say that Obama is just a fad and won’t stick.

McCain Says Article Lied

http://news.aol.com/elections/story/_a/mccain-rips-lobbyist-report-as-not-true/20080220201409990001

On Thursday presumed republican nominee John McCain remarked on two article which stated McCain may have had to close of a relationship with a Lobbyist. Both McCain and Vicki Iseman have denied that anything romantic happened between the two. McCain in his speech said the article was simply “not true” and that he tries hard to keep a good character. His wife, who was standing side by side with McCain also spoke about her husbands integrity and character. McCain also stated that he his still good friends with Iseman, and John Weaver, one of the aides who was quoted in the article.

I think McCain did the right thing by adressing this situation so quickly. He seemed confident and sincere and so did his wife. One think I find interesting is how strong of statements McCain and his wife made about his character, if ever there were any real proof to show their was a relationship between him and the lobbyist, McCains whole credibility would be gone. But I don’t think they will find any evidence, because I don’t think it actually happened. I think it is just lies coming from a bitter aide.

Ferryboat sinks in Brazil

http://news.aol.com/story/_a/10-die-after-ferryboat-sinks-in-brazil/20080221154109990001

10 are dead, and 9 more are feared dead after a ferryboat capsizes in the Amazon river on Thursday. 4 out of the 10 were children. The Ferryboat went down at sunrise in the middle of the river, there were over 100 passengers on board at the time of the sinking. 92 passengers were rescued by small boats and the State’s Floating Police Station. Rescue team leaders say that the likelihood of the 9 other missing passengers being alive is unlikely, but they were going to search till everybody was accounted for. The passengers who died were most likely sleeping in their cabins while the boat went down.

I think this is a terrible tragedy and hope more of the passengers are found alive. The visibility was extremely low on the river in the night, and is cited, at least initially with the cause of the crash. I don’t understand how people could be sleeping while the boat was going down, I’d think there would be alarms or something to keep people notified of an emergency, but I guess we’ll find out in a few days.

Canada Decides To Pull Out Of Afghanistan

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/americas/02/21/canada.afghanistan.ap/index.html

Only 3 and ½ more years is the “time table” that Canadian liberals have pushed the country’s conservative Prime Minister to make. After 79 deaths in southern Afghanistan, the country has decided enough is enough and are going to pull. The original plan was to wait till 2011 to make a decision, but now it is set in stone that they will be pulling troops out then.

Well I guess I hope that terrorist are done wanting to kill people by 2011, or I guess that’s what Canada is hoping. I don’t understand how you can put time table on things like these, this an ongoing battle, which is going to take a while to gain control of, and everyone is wanting time tables to get thing done. Well I sure hope that is people remove pressure from terrorist organizations, they don’t just start attacking on our land again.

Hillary didn't draw any blood, which she needed to do.

Just a hit piece by the NYT.

Very sad story in the Amazon.

People tire of war until it comes home.
