Support the Troops

SUMMARY

A new internet video has been made to show support for our troops fighting over seas. It was made by barelypolitical.com, and the girl that is the main lip-sync singer is the same girl that recently put out the internet video “I’ve got a crush on Obama”, which was also done by barelypolitical.com. The video also will help raise money for the veteran organization when people download the video from itunes. They makers of the video encourage wives and girlfriends of soldiers to send in their video of them lip-syncing to the song with a picture of their soldier, and they will update the video.

OPINION

I think supporting our troop is a good thing and by making a video it is also a good reminder, because often times when you do not know someone personally that is over seas fighting, you forget that there is even a war going on. It is also comforting to those who do know loved ones that are fighting so they can see that people do care and support the troops. The video probably could have been done a little bit differently and more modestly but over all it has a good concept about not just falling for preppy boys, but a man who is brave enough to risk his life to defend our country.

Mystery Meteor

SUMMARY

This past weekend a large hole full of muddy water has become a tourist attraction in a town near Lake Titicaca in Peru. The hole was supposedly made from a Meteor that exploded when landing this past weekend. The people in the town are complaining because it is releasing awful smelling gasses and is contaminating their cattle’s water. Some people in the town say that the smell from the gas is making people ill, but scientist think the people are crazy because there is nothing harmful about the meteor because they are made of iron metal or stone and are not toxic. A local scientist tested the site and said that what he found was made simply of silicon and boron.

OPINION

I think it is cool that people got to see a meteor crash into earth, even though it is a dangerous thing to encounter, it would be cool to see, because not very many people get to experience a meteor crashing. As for the scientist thinking that the people are crazy, he is kind rude. If people are suffering, he should not be calling them crazy, but investigating the situation closer and find out what the real cause behind their sickness is.

SUMMARY

The five dollar bill is getting a makeover to increase the authenticity of the bill, so it is harder for counterfeiters to counterfeit. The new bill is not scheduled to come out until early 2008, and the next bill that will most likely be getting a makeover is the hundred dollar bill. They try to update and improve currency every seven to ten years, so the official mints can keep ahead of counterfeiters. Some of the new features added to the new five dollar bill are: a big, purple five on the back of the bill so it is easier to identify for the visually challenged, two new watermarks, a security thread, the great seal of the United States, an arc of stars, and the coloring has been slightly changed.

OPINION

I think making changes to our currency is a great idea. Not only does it prevent people from being able to counterfeit our money, but it also is interesting for the handler of the money to be able to watch your currency evolve in design as you grow up. I have always thought that US currency is so boring compared to other countries, but the new renditions that have been made to the five dollar bill make our money, or at least our five, look at lot more interesting.

Eco Green the New Black

SUMMARY

At London’s fashion week a new type economic friendly type of clothing was introduced. It is a new popular fashion called sustainable fashion, and it is made from environment friendly cloth, and is made free of human exploitation. A lot of designers that are trying to go green like it because it free from all the chemicals used to turn raw material into clothes, and uses recyclable fabric, organic fibers, and none polluting vegetable die. It is the fashion of the future, and not only will you be stylish when you wear it, but you will also be helping the environment.

OPINION

I think sustainable fashion sounds like a great idea. Anything that will help our environment is on its way to making the world a better place in the future. On the other hand, the sustainable fashions that were shown in London’s fashion week were hideous, and I would never wear any of the styles that were shown on the runway. If the designers could only design something that was actually fashionable and eco friendly then my entire wardrobe would be full of sustainable fashions.
