National: Jenny McCarthy tells about her son

Summary: Jenny McCarthy thought, just like any other mom would do that her child was normal. When two-year-old Evan started to have terrifying seizures, Jenny new something was up. She went to the doctor and that is where she found out that her son had autism. They were waiting in the doctor’s office when this nice old man walked in. He sat down and Jenny started to talk to him about what was going on with her son. The doctor looked at her son and after evaluating the boys behavior he pulled a chair up to Jenny, grabbed her hand, and old her that he was sorry to tell her that her son had autism. She was stunned, but since then she has done everything in her power to make her boy better. She has written a book and also done some talk shows, talking about the difficulties that she has faced and warning other parents about autism and what she thinks causes it. She has stunned many Americans and made many mothers aware of autism.

Opinion: I believe that she is doing everything possible to make others aware of autism. She is trying to prevent the disease. She doesn’t want anyone to go through what she and Evan have gone through. She is trying to reach out to others and she is doing a really great job. Her son is doing much better and by showing that there is a light at the end of every tunnel it gives hope to those who have children with autism and letting them know that there is hope to healing. She has definitely caught my attention and I would love to do anything to help.


International: Madeleine McCann mismatch

Summary: A girl was photographed in Morocco that was said to be the missing toddler from London, England (Madeleine McCann). Many were stunned and excited. But on Wednesday the reporters declared this to be wrong information. The little girl was not Madeleine but a young girl named Bushra Binhisa whose father is a farmer in Morocco. The Lawyer of the McCann’s says that if this news is true that it will be very disappointing. The Parents of Madeleine have not commented about this story about the girl in the photos.

Opinion: I believe that whoever took these pictures and released them saying that the girl had been found, owes the McCann family and the family of the girl in the photograph an apology. The photographer has caused a major uproar of disappointment. The photographer has probably caused major heartache too. I believe that it is the right thing to do is to not have released anything until you know for a fact that what you are releasing is true. What happened with this story is a tragedy and I wish the family of Madeleine the best and I pray they find their daughter.


National: 2 year old is mauled to death by dogs

Summary: This past Tuesday in Lincoln County, N.C. a two year old was mauled to death by neighbors dogs. The little boy was at his grandfather’s house playing when he wandered off into the woods where two dogs were chained up. The grandfather of the little boy said that the boy’s best friend was a boxer and that he was probably trying to make nice with the dogs. An hour later rescuers found him tangled in the chain with the two dogs standing over him. The owners of the dogs willing gave the dogs up and the dogs are now being held at Lincoln Animal Control. The dogs will be euthanized in 10 days.

Opinion: I believe that the family of this child should have been keeping a closer eye on the boy. The boy was two years old he is still learning about right and wrong and probably didn’t know better not to bother the dogs. The family is to blame just like the neighbors are to blame for having such crucial animals. It’s weird to think that no one heard the boy scream or heard the dogs barking and growling. To me this story seems a little fishy and something is not being told.


International: The Three Gorges Dam

Summary: Beijing, China is facing severe concern on the Three Gorges Dam. The dam had been very helpful in not allowing flooding on the city and keeping the environment safe. But now they are concerned of overflowing and causing land slides around the dam. They are afraid of the hills around the dam getting flooded and causing severe landslides causing damages to the area around the dam. They are now trying to work out a plan to make sure that this does not happen. They are doing everything in their power to come up with ideas to solve this problem.

Opinion: I believe that at this point there is nothing to be done but to come up with ideas to prevent this tragedy from happening. If this were to happen this would be a major disaster and could have the possibility of whipping out many things around the area. I believe that if they think this overflowing could happen anytime soon they should evacuate the area because there is now way of knowing how many deaths this could cause (to many to count). I believe that they will make the right decision on what to do.
