Gang used ATM 'blood suckers' to steal, Brazil police say
Summary
Police arrested 24 people across Brazil and were searching for one more Thursday in a crackdown on a gang that implanted devices in ATMs that recorded banking data, allowing the gang to defraud customers out of millions of dollars.
Gang members got access to the banking data with the help of automatic teller machine maintenance workers who installed devices known as "blood suckers." The devices record account information and passwords from people using the machines, federal police said in a statement.
Police had been investigating the gang since 2004 and said the group had diverted some $10 million out of customers' bank accounts.
Those arrested included the gang's three alleged masterminds, as well as engineers who manufactured the devices and workers at ATM maintenance companies.

Opinion
these days as the technology developed the types of crimes have developed too.
I think if would be very easy to steal the ATM if the place is unsecure. those criminals should go to prison for long time. And I think the ATM should be more secure to the data and the others.

Fifteen soldiers from a Pakistani army unit died in a bombing at their mess hall Thursday, a Pakistani intelligence source said.
The Associated Press said two security officials reported the attack was the work of a suicide bomber.More than 25 other soldiers were wounded in the bombing at the Terbella Ghazi military base, about 63 miles (100 km) northeast of Islamabad, the source said. The commando unit hit Thursday by the bombing had taken part in ending the siege in July of Islamabad's Red Mosque -- a weeklong standoff between security forces and Islamic extremists who hoped to establish Taliban-style rule across the capital. More than 100 people, including militant leader Abdul Rashid Ghazi, died when troops stormed the Red Mosque.

Opinion

It is sad that 15 soldiers died.In pakistan there are still lot of suicide bombers which gives fear to people. eventhough the U.S army made a powerful secure it just seems that they cant stop the bombers. I believe that soldiers who died would go to better place.

Reward offered for suspected cop killer

Summary
A man suspected of shooting four Miami-Dade police officers, one fatally, after a traffic stop Thursday, remained the subject of an intense manhunt Thursday night.
Authorities pledged to work around the clock until Shawn Sherwin Labeet is captured.
Local, state and federal agencies were assisting in the search, police Cmdr. Linda O'Brien said, and a Black Hawk helicopter was being utilized.
"We are continuing to pursue all leads until we find" Labeet, said Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos
A $22,000 reward was offered Thursday night for information leading to Labeet's arrest, O'Brien said.
The shootings happened about 11 a.m. as the officers were on a burglary detail at a housing complex in Cutler Bay, Florida, Alvarez said. They saw a vehicle driving erratically, he said, stopped it and confronted the man police believe is Labeet.
The man got out of the car and opened fire with an assault rifle, Alvarez said. "Without any remorse, Labeet left the officers there to die and fled the scene."

Opinion
This guy is crazy. he killed 2cops and wounded 2cops. it is tradegy. sometimes it makes me mad because of the foolish decision by the suspect. I can imagine how sad the families would be. eventhough the police officers did thier duty, they died without any action.I hope the suspect gets arrested and feel sorry to the families of the dead cops.

Nurse To Plead Guilty In Courthouse Shooting
Summary
A former prison nurse accused of killing a guard to free her convict husband plans to plead guilty next week to avoid the death penalty, her attorney said.
Jennifer Hyatte is accused of killing one guard and wounding another during an ambush at the Roane County Courthouse on Aug. 9, 2005.
Attorney John Eldridge said the plea deal, if approved by the judge during a hearing scheduled Monday, would spare her from the death penalty. She would instead face a life sentence without the possibility of parole, he said.
The couple fled the state, but were captured 36 hours later at a motel in Columbus, Ohio.Jennifer Hyatte's plea deal could require her to testify against her husband, who she married in prison a few months before the escape.

Opinion
I dont know why did the nurse killed the guards. by killing a guard and wounding another guard, she definitely have have death sentence. If the court gives her life sentence it is not fair. there was no reason to kill the officer but having a life sentence is not enough for her. I hope the judge gives her death sentence and would never happen again.
