Summary: Last year, in Jena, Louisianna, a white boy was beaten up by 6 black kids. The reason was that a black kid was sitting under a tree that was like a 'property' of whites and a white kid got mad at that situation and hang nooses on that tree which meant KKK killing the blacks. 5 out of the 6 balck kids were charged of assault. The black society is mad at this and thousands of them clogged the tiny town of Jena to show their indignation over what they consider unjust, unequal punishments meted out in two racially charged incidents.

Opinion: Whatever racial comment the white boy made, whatever racial act he did on them, the reaction to the racist action should not be an assault, especially 6 on one. I do not appreciate the racial comments and racist actions but what I believe is that if my response to those injustice is violence, I am no better than them. Well, however, I know that they were feeling bad but violence is not acceptable.

Firefighters use forklift to move 900-lb. man

Summary: In Michigan, an 33 year old man was removed from his home by a nurse who determined the 33-year-old man needed medical help. Firefighters cut a hole in the side of a house and used a forklift to extricate a 900-pound man from his second-floor bedroom after a visiting nurse became worried about his health. They covered the man with a blue tarp to shield him from onlookers and slid the platform onto a flatbed truck for a trip to the hospital.
Opinion: Well, 900 pound is just too much! In my opinion, Americans eat high calorie fast foods a lot that so many people are obese. I am not saying that Americans should change their eating habbits but I do think they eat a lot. The fast food companies are making them eat extras. However, I personally abhor the skinny people but I do not think 900 pound is acceptable either. Because I believe that obesity is the result of not caring about themselves.

Abandoned toddler case: Body found

Summary: Qian Xun Xue, who was nicknamed "Pumpkin" by rescuers before she was identified, was born in New Zealand after her parents moved there in 2002. The police is searching for the mother of a toddler believed to have been abandoned by her father at a train station in Australia found a woman's body locked in the trunk of a car at the family's New Zealand home. Police in Australia, New Zealand and the United States as well as Interpol are looking for her father, Xue Naiyin, a 54-year-old Chinese-language magazine publisher.

Opinion: There are so many abandoned kids in the world today. A lot of parents are careless and does not want to be responsible for their kids. Even though the parents are not abandoning them, a lot of kids are suffing because of the careless parents. This case is kind of special since it became an international issue, but it is the same as a lot of other bad parents since the parents were not responsible and not worth for a child. What I want to say is this: it shouldn't hurt to be a child.

Ice loss 'opens Northwest Passage'

Summary: The European Space Agency said nearly 200 satellite photos this month taken together showed an ice-free passage along northern Canada, Alaska and Greenland, according to news reports. Ice was retreating to its lowest level since such images were first taken in 1978. Most researchers had anticipated the complete disappearance of the Arctic ice pack during summer months would happen after the year 2070 but some of them said that losing summer sea ice cover by 2030 is not unreasonable.

Opinion: I cannot even think about all the ice melting in North pole. It would be so disasterous when it happens. The sea level would rise and the temperature would drop, resulting death of many people. Some scientists believe that the global warming is just a phenomenon that occurs on Earth on regular bases and is not that serious. Well, even though it is really a 'just' a phenomenon, it seems that we are going to face some disaster pretty soon. People should try not to let carbon-dioxide go into the air. Everyone should find some way and try hard to lower the temperature of the Earth
