Wave of bombings, shootings sweeps Iraq, kills at least 50
On wednesday there was a mass of bombings and shootings on Iraq, killing at least 50 people and raising fears that al-Qaeda had launched a promised new offensive. The US military blamed in on the terror movement. That same day came the announcement that the American and Iraqi troops had raided the Iraqi military academy the day before and they had arrested cadets adn instructors who were involved to the kidnap-slaying of the former superintendent and the abduction of his replacement, who was later freed. The attack ocurred when a suicide driver detonated an explosives-laden truck close to the home of a Sunni Arab tribal leader near Sinjar. Also on Wednesday police reported that an American soldier had been killed the day before by small-arms fire in eastern Baghdad.
Opinion
I think that this is very sad. It seems that people in Iraq are not living in a peaceful because it seems that everyday there is bombings. I especially feel sad that the day before this bombings an American soldier was killed in Baghdad by small-arms fires. But the good thing is that our soldiers are still there fighting in order to make Iraq a better place.
