National

Summary:
Two women, customers of Southwest Airlines, have been addressed about their apparel by flight attendants within the last two weeks. The women have been asked if able to cover up their offensive clothing. The airline says it did not receive complaints about the situations directly and therefore could not have dealt with the offenses. The airline gives its flight attendants the right to use their own judgment about offending circumstances and does not see the reason the situations should rise any complaints. The airlines goal is to accommodate all the passengers, which includes protecting the passengers from anything that could offend them.

Opinion:
I’m so glad Southwest has thought of this rule of thumb in their flights. Our society has drastically changed from the last fifty years. Apparel was not so provocative and offensive back then as it is today. The world has come to this conclusion that the less you wear, the more attention/love you’ll receive. I must say to those people, the attention you’ll receive will not be the kind of attention you were looking for or truly need! Although I do not know what the two women on the flights were wearing, I trust the flight attendants judgment in what is appropriate to travel clothing.

International

Summary:
The Italians are protesting against the rising cost of pasta in European countries. The cost of pasta has risen because of the shortage of wheat and other products in the world. A group of farmers has formed an activist group in strike against the pasta cost. Most people ignore the risen cost because pasta is a major food necessity in their meals. Europeans do not care what the reason is for this change in economics, only the hopefully lowering change in cost.

Opinion:
Just imagine…what would Americans do if we had a shortage of meat, which would lead to hamburgers. Americans would go crazy! They would kick and scream and demand the U.S. to do everything possible to get them some meat…even if it lead to violence…So, I don’t know if it would get that bad but I tend to think that Americans are spoiled and we do not appreciate what God has blessed us with: life, freedom, and so much more. I do not think the Italians are being ridiculous. For the most part, Europeans do not say anything on the matter. They only go on each day living their lives and are willing to pay a little more for a food item that has been in the heritage for years. I admire these Europeans because they appreciate what is available to them and do not demand the most expensive item. America should obtain some of these qualities from the Europeans.

Just say no to the fashion police! If you saw the woman's dress you would realize Southwest was overstepping their boundries.

Hadn't heard about the pasta shortage.
